Australian and Asian Rice Production – A Unit on Geography and Technology 3-6

Summary of Unit:

In this unit of activities and lessons, students use interactive tools, along with traditional methods, to investigate food and fibre production and to learn about Australia’s neighbouring countries. With a huge link to the cross-curriculum priority of ‘Asia and Australia’s Engagement with Asia’ the lesson teaches students about the importance of trade with Asia. Students create digital maps, locate countries and use reading and viewing skills to learn about production of rice. Bloom’s and Debono’s thinking skills are also included in this unit to ensure creativity is maintained.
